Not really, anyway. Besides, flying to Kobal in your magic underwear to be judged by Joseph Smith at the end days is somehow equivalent to the Christian concept of atonement and final judgment, and I can't buy into any of that. <br><br>Nor are they equal, even if you take them literally at face value. The prior one is fanciful imagination run a muck, the latter is rooted deeply in human psychology, tying into our deep seeded fear of death, and they're not the same thing because their intentions clearly diverge. <br><br>I never have considered Mormonism a real religion. It's a pseudo-religion, much like early Christian Gnosticism, a strand predicated and derived from already popular religious beliefs, and is still evolving.<br><br>Give it two-thousand years and people might change my mind. But I doubt it. In two thousand years people will read about the historical formation of the Church of Latter-day Saints... and learn about Indian massacres and a wild wild west style shoot outs with the U.S. Marshals which ended Smith's sensationalist carrier... and that's before we get to the wild antics of Brigham Young.<br><br>Unless people turn into morons (not to be confused with Mormons, like Homer Simpson has) they'll likely see it for what it is.<br><br>It's weird that most don't today. But that's dogma for you. Then again, there's Scientologists too... so that's got to make Mormons everywhere feel great, almost as if their beliefs where half way believable... almost.Tristan D.
