TED Talk Tuesday: Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity

I'm back! And I am now officially a college graduate! And in celebration of that accomplishment, I'm sharing Ken Robinson's brilliant and funny talk on how my education may have stifled my creativity.  ;-)

All joking aside, I love this talk. For me, the most powerful line is, "If you're not prepared to be wrong, you'll never come up with anything original."

How often do we play it too safe? I'm working toward being more willing to take risks, as a writer, a musician and a human being. We get one life. Let's make the most of it!

  2. Funny and insightful. I don't believe academia kills creativity--but it definitely gets you high on the left-brain train. Nevertheless, there's always ways to balance. All the cutting-edge intellectuals I know writhe at the discotheque or paint or sing or do something that opens that right brain up. It helps produce better ideas. And makes them funner & funnier.

btw--congratulations! Life beyond the big ol' institution. What to do, what to do?

  4. Aw, thanks, you guys!

As for what's next... it's a work in progress. Maybe writhing in a discotheque will help me figure it out.
