TED Talk Tuesday: Nicholas Christakis: The hidden influence of social networks

No man or woman is an island. Your influence in the world is greater than you might realize. You can't not affect others; you can only choose whether your influence is positive or negative. This talk made me want to be more conscious about what I'm putting out there.

  1. Thanks again for posting the weekly TED. I think as bloggers we put out ideas to networks. I also sit on a board of a performing arts non-profit and find myself in the middle of a social network. I am always amazed at how many people know me that I was barely aware of and what kind of influence I have. I have long said that your contribution on this planet is measured by who you touch and if that was a force for good. That being said I also believe that challenging convention is as important as getting along.

  2. This is kind of intense. And dense, information-wise. So, we have to be aware of the meta around us while still behaving naturally, individual-to-individual?

"Emotions have a collective existence not just an individual existence."

Maybe we are at the beginning of a new kind of 'woken-up' humanity.
