At the moment, you are writing on twitter, and there's not yet a ton of followers. I personally use twitter for sending links to my blog articles. Not to often so nobody get's bothered. Wordpress - where i have my ''main' blog - can do this automatically with a plugin.
Most of my followers are re-followers. I was looking for interesting people, and followed them. Also, if you write intersting posts, you will eventually get a RT. Re-Tweet - some of your readers are going to send your tweets to their own followers. On #ff (Follow Friday) there is a lot of traffic when the people recommed one's with interesting stuff to be followed.

It's fun. And often a lot of (white) noise.
