Shamelessly plugging Kiva

Tis the season for helping out a fellow human being. I can't say enough good things about Kiva. It's not a charity; it's a business model that enables people to help themselves. A loan of $25 in U.S. currency goes a long way in the developing world. The current repayment rate for Kiva loans is 98%, so there's a good chance your loan will be repaid, at which point you can take your money back or lend it again, and again and again. Visit kiva.org to get started. You can use their gift certificates to give your friends and family the gift of helping out an entrepreneur.  If you're so inclined, there's an Atheists, Agnostics, Skeptics, Freethinkers, Secular Humanists and the Non-Religious lending team (or if you don't count yourself in any of those groups, click on the Community tab at the top of the page to find a lending team that better suits you, or just lend as an individual). Still not convinced? Watch this video:

  1. Thank for pointing out Kiva. I included them in my plans for holiday giving.
