  1. Thank the spirit of the times!!! Finally some sort of equality that has given rights to private decisions for those who are discriminated upon. Battles have historically been fought for racial rights, gender rights, religious freedoms, and now sexual orientation rights. These battles may have been won but the war is not over.

  3. I was dancing too. Then I called up my husband to tell him the news and my voice caught in my throat.

Still a long way to go, but this is big.

  4. Unfortunately they're not "once again free to marry" quite yet. There's a stay on the ruling in deference to the inevitability of an appeal. Still, this is a huge step forward. Judge Walker's ruling was heavy on findings of fact, which will carry weight with the higher courts later. And the record of the trial shows that the anti-gay-marriage side had nothing, even for a trial as high-stakes as this -- no arguments, no evidence for their position, nothing. The higher courts would need to resort to pretty flagrant prejudice to overturn Walker's ruling.

  6. I would have been screaming if it wouldn't have irritated my husband's ears. I texted my brother in DC and we were both crying. It was a great day, too bad it doesn't take effect yet. :(
